The Jungian reading
The ex appears as an image, not a message: a personification of what the relationship carried — a version of you, an intensity, a quality of feeling first lived in their company. Jung would treat the figure as partly Anima or Animus material: your inner counterpart wearing its most convenient known face. The question is never whether you still love them, but what you lived through them that you are not living now. Recurring ex-dreams often mark the psyche retrieving a quality from storage.
